Kuvasz - Health Problems
Kuvasz Dogs are prone to hip dysplasia. In order to reduce chances of producing Kuvasz puppies with the hip dysplasia, a breeder should have the hips of his breeding stock x-rayed for this disease.

Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) can be seen in the shoulder, elbow or stifle joints of the affected Kuvasz. Eye diseases, von Willebrand's Disease (vWD), and deafness can also occur in the breed. Deep chested dogs are also prone to bloat and gastric dilatation. In comparison with other large breeds, Kuvasz Dogs have few genetically inherited diseases.
Kuvasz - General Care
The Kuvasz needs daily exercise. The breed can live outside, as it enjoys the cold weather. If the dog has access to both the house and the yard, it is the best. Kuvasz Dogs are not hyperactive and can adjust to their family situation. The coat of the Kuvasz requires brushing once or twice a week. Brush your pet more frequently during heavy shedding periods. Bathing with warm water speeds the shedding up.
If your Kuvasz gets muddy, allow him to have some time to dry and the dirt will be shed to the floor. If regularly brushed, the dog's coat will remain white and odorless. Check the nails on a regular basis and clip them when necessary. Also, check your dog's teeth, gums and ears to prevent any infection from cropping up. On the whole, Kuvasz Dogs need little grooming.
